Material & Heat Treatment
16Mo3 is a molybdenum-alloy steel grade manufactured according to EN 10216-2 for elevated-temperature boiler and pressure equipment service.
The addition of molybdenum improves high-temperature strength and resistance to softening compared with carbon steel while maintaining good weldability.
Heat treatment includes:
• Normalizing: approximately 890–950°C
The normalized condition provides stable mechanical properties for continuous elevated-temperature operation up to approximately 530°C.
Manufacturing Process
Steel Billet → Heating → Rotary Piercing → Hot Rolling → Sizing → Normalizing → Inspection → Beveling → Marking → Packing

FAQs
Is 16Mo3 equivalent to ASTM A335 P1?
No. Although the chemical composition is similar, EN 10216-2 16Mo3 and ASTM A335 P1 are governed by different standards. Material selection should be confirmed according to project specifications.
Can 16Mo3 be used above 530°C?
Continuous service above approximately 530°C is generally not recommended because the material's creep strength decreases significantly at higher temperatures.
Can customized dimensions be supplied?
Yes. Custom outside diameter, wall thickness, length, end preparation and inspection requirements are available.
What inspection documents are available?
EN 10204 Type 3.1 Material Test Certificates and project-specific inspection reports are available upon request.
