Material & Heat Treatment
Branch connections are manufactured from carbon and alloy steels containing Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si), Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Vanadium (V) and other alloying elements within the limits specified by the applicable material standard.
Chromium, molybdenum and vanadium contribute to the material's mechanical properties and high-pressure performance. Material suitability for specific service conditions depends on operating conditions, design requirements and applicable project specifications.
Heat treatment is performed according to the applicable material specification, qualified manufacturing procedures and purchaser requirements. Heat treatment is performed as specified for the material grade and applicable ASTM standard, including normalizing, tempering, or quenching where required. Actual heat-treatment conditions depend on the applicable material specification, product size, forging process and project requirements.

Forged construction is supplied according to product size, pressure class, manufacturing route and applicable specifications. What is the difference between a branch connection and a forged tee?
A branch connection is an outlet fitting welded directly to the run pipe, providing a reinforced connection at the branch opening. A forged tee is a complete three-way forged component with the branch integrated into the fitting body. Branch connections are commonly used where a smaller branch is connected to a larger run pipe or where a compact outlet configuration is preferred.
What materials are available for branch connections?
