P91 Alloy Steel Pipe Bend

P91 Alloy Steel Pipe Bend is a 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb alloy steel pipe bend manufactured from ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 P91 pipe and formed by hot bending or induction bending. It is used to change the direction of high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems. Hongcheng manufactures and supplies P91 alloy steel pipe bends for power generation, ultra-supercritical boiler systems, refinery process piping and hydrogen processing service.

Product Overview

P91 Alloy Steel Pipe Bend is a 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb alloy steel pipe bend manufactured from ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 P91 pipe and formed by hot bending or induction bending. It is used to change the direction of high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems. Hongcheng manufactures and supplies P91 alloy steel pipe bends for power generation, ultra-supercritical boiler systems, refinery process piping and hydrogen processing service.

ASTM A335 P91 is the seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe grade used for elevated-temperature service, while corresponding butt-welding fittings are specified to ASTM A234 WP91. These grades are commonly specified together in high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems, with each product form controlled by its respective ASTM / ASME material specification.

Hongcheng supplies P91 pipe bends with heat treatment performed in accordance with applicable material specifications and purchaser requirements. Full material traceability, inspection documentation and project-specific technical support are available. Custom bending radius, angles and wall thickness transitions can be supplied according to project drawings and specifications.

Material & Heat Treatment

P91 alloy steel contains Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Vanadium (V), Niobium (Nb), Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si) and Carbon (C) within the limits specified by the applicable material standard.

Chromium, molybdenum and vanadium contribute to the material's elevated-temperature mechanical properties and creep strength. Material suitability for hydrogen service depends on operating conditions, design requirements and applicable project specifications.

Heat treatment is performed according to the applicable ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 requirements, qualified manufacturing procedures and purchaser specifications. Typical processing includes normalizing, tempering and other treatments specified by the material grade and applicable standard. Actual heat-treatment conditions depend on the applicable material specification, product size, bending process and project requirements.

Manufacturing Process

Raw Material Inspection → Cutting → Induction Bending / Hot Forming → Heat Treatment → Beveling → Inspection & Testing → Marking → Packing

Formed construction is supplied according to product size, bending radius, manufacturing route and applicable specifications. Hongcheng controls bending accuracy, heat treatment, wall thickness integrity and inspection throughout the manufacturing process to meet applicable standards and purchaser specifications.

FAQs

  • Q:

What is the difference between P91 pipe and WP91 fittings?

    A:

P91 and WP91 refer to related grades within the same 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb alloy system, but they are specified under different ASTM product standards. ASTM A335 P91 is used for seamless alloy steel pipe, while ASTM A234 WP91 is used for wrought butt-welding fittings. They are commonly specified together in high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems.

  • Q:

Are P91 bends suitable for hydrogen service?

    A:

Material suitability for hydrogen service depends on operating conditions, design requirements, material compatibility and applicable project specifications. The selected grade should be confirmed against the applicable design code and project specifications.

  • Q:

What post-weld heat treatment is required for P91 bends?

    A:

PWHT may be required depending on the applicable construction code, wall thickness, welding procedure and project requirements. Where welding is required, P91 bends should be welded using qualified procedures with preheating and PWHT applied as required by the applicable code and project specifications.

  • Q:

Can custom bending radius and angles be supplied?

    A:

Yes. Hongcheng can manufacture custom P91 alloy steel pipe bends according to customer drawings and technical specifications, including custom bending radius, angles, wall thickness and marking requirements.

  • Q:

    What standards are supported?

    A:

P91 alloy steel pipe bends can be manufactured from ASTM A335 / ASME SA335 P91 pipe. Dimensional requirements may follow ASME B16.9 where applicable, while material, bending, heat treatment and inspection requirements are controlled according to the applicable product specification and project requirements.
