A234 WP5 Alloy Steel Eccentric Reducer is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel butt-weld fitting manufactured to ASTM A234 / ASME SA234, with butt-welding ends and dimensional requirements based on ASME B16.9 where applicable. Product Overview

A234 WP5 Alloy Steel Eccentric Reducer is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel butt-weld fitting manufactured to ASTM A234 / ASME SA234, with butt-welding ends and dimensional requirements based on ASME B16.9 where applicable. Hongcheng manufactures and supplies WP5 eccentric reducers for refinery process piping, hydrogenation units, reformer systems and other high-temperature industrial piping applications, including sulfur-containing process service where specified.

 

ASTM A234 WP5 is the wrought alloy steel fitting grade associated with the P5 alloy grade. ASTM A335 P5 applies to seamless ferritic alloy steel pipe, while ASTM A234 WP5 applies to wrought butt-welding fittings. These grades are commonly specified together in hydrogen-containing and high-temperature service environments, while each product form is controlled by its respective ASTM / ASME material specification.

Eccentric Configuration

 

A234 WP5 eccentric reducers feature an offset centerline, allowing one side of the reducer to remain flush with the adjacent pipe. This configuration is commonly selected for pump suction, drainage and piping layouts where maintaining a flat side is required.

 

The selection of eccentric configuration, including the orientation of the flat side, depends on piping arrangement, flow conditions, fluid characteristics and project specifications.

Material & Heat Treatment

A234 WP5 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel grade containing Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si) and Carbon (C) within the limits specified by the applicable material standard.

 

Chromium and molybdenum contribute to the material's mechanical properties and suitability for elevated-temperature service conditions. Chromium content can also be relevant to sulfidation resistance in applicable refining and petrochemical environments, subject to service conditions and material selection requirements.

 

Heat treatment is performed according to the applicable ASTM A234 / ASME SA234 requirements, qualified manufacturing procedures and purchaser specifications. Typical processing includes normalizing and tempering. Actual heat-treatment conditions depend on the applicable material specification, product size, manufacturing route and project requirements.

Raw Material Inspection → Cutting → Forming → Sizing & Calibration → Heat Treatment → End Beveling → Inspection & Testing → Marking → Packing

 

Hot forming or other qualified forming processes may be used according to product size, configuration and manufacturing requirements. For welded constructions, welding and applicable PWHT are performed according to qualified welding procedures and project requirements.

 

Hongcheng controls forming, heat treatment, dimensional accuracy and inspection throughout the manufacturing process to meet applicable standards and purchaser specifications.

    A:
