F91 High Pressure Forged Tee

F91 High Pressure Forged Tee is a forged piping component manufactured from ASTM A182 Grade F91 alloy steel and used to form a branch connection in high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems.

Product Overview

F91 High Pressure Forged Tee is a forged piping component manufactured from ASTM A182 Grade F91 alloy steel and used to form a branch connection in high-temperature and high-pressure piping systems. Hongcheng manufactures and supplies F91 forged tees for power plant main steam piping, hot reheat systems, superheater outlet headers and other applications requiring elevated-temperature creep resistance and high mechanical strength.

F91 is the forged grade within the 9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb alloy system, typically used in conjunction with ASTM A335 P91 seamless pipe and ASTM A234 WP91 butt-welding fittings. Each product form is controlled by its respective ASTM / ASME material specification.

Hongcheng supplies F91 high pressure forged tees with heat treatment (normalizing and tempering) performed in accordance with applicable material specifications and purchaser requirements. Full material traceability, inspection documentation and project-specific technical support are available. Custom end preparations and marking can be supplied according to project drawings and specifications.

Material & Heat Treatment

F91 forged tees are manufactured from alloy steel containing Carbon (C), Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si), Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Vanadium (V), Niobium (Nb) and Nitrogen (N) within the limits specified by ASTM A182.

Chromium, molybdenum, vanadium and niobium contribute to the material's creep resistance and elevated-temperature strength. Material suitability for specific service conditions depends on operating conditions, design requirements and applicable project specifications.

Heat treatment is performed according to the applicable ASTM A182 requirements, qualified manufacturing procedures and purchaser specifications. F91 typically requires normalizing followed by tempering to develop the required tempered martensite microstructure. Actual heat-treatment conditions depend on the applicable material specification, product size, forging process and project requirements.

Manufacturing Process

Raw Material Inspection → Cutting → Forging → Normalizing & Tempering → Machining → Non-Destructive Testing (UT/MT) → Dimensional Inspection → Packing

Forged construction is supplied according to product size, pressure class, manufacturing route and applicable specifications. Hongcheng controls forging accuracy, heat treatment, dimensional tolerances and inspection throughout the manufacturing process to meet applicable standards and purchaser specifications.

Applications

F91 high pressure forged tees are commonly used in:

• Power Plant Main Steam Piping

• Hot Reheat Piping Systems

• Superheater Outlet Headers

• High-Pressure Utility Systems

• Refinery High-Temperature Process Piping

• Petrochemical Furnace and Reactor Piping

Welding & PWHT Notes

F91 is weldable using qualified welding procedures. Preheating (typically in the range of 200–300°C) and controlled interpass temperature are commonly applied during welding. Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) may be required depending on the applicable construction code, wall thickness, welding procedure and project requirements. Welding should be performed using qualified procedures with low-hydrogen electrodes and PWHT applied as required by the applicable code and project specifications.

FAQs

  • Q:

What is the difference between F91 and P91?

    A:

F91 refers to the forging material specification (ASTM A182 Grade F91), while P91 refers to the pipe material specification (ASTM A335 Grade P91). Both grades share essentially the same chemical composition (9Cr-1Mo-V-Nb) and mechanical properties. In high-temperature piping systems, P91 pipe is typically joined to F91 forged fittings and tees.

  • Q:

What heat treatment is required for F91 forged tees?

    A:

F91 forged tees are typically supplied in the normalized and tempered condition to develop the required tempered martensite microstructure. Heat treatment is performed according to ASTM A182 requirements and project specifications. Actual heat-treatment parameters depend on product size, wall thickness and applicable standards.

  • Q:

What post-weld heat treatment is required for F91?

    A:

PWHT may be required for F91 depending on the applicable construction code, wall thickness, welding procedure and project requirements. Preheating and controlled interpass temperature are commonly applied. Welding should be performed using qualified procedures with PWHT applied as required by the applicable code.

  • Q:

    What pressure classes are available?

    A:

F91 forged tees are supplied in 3000# and 6000# pressure classes according to ASME B16.11, subject to applicable size and product requirements.

  • Q:

    What standards are supported?

    A:

F91 forged tees are manufactured from ASTM A182 Grade F91. Dimensional requirements follow ASME B16.11 where applicable, while material, forging, heat treatment and inspection requirements are controlled according to the applicable product specification and project requirements.
