Hot Pressed Alloy Steel Tee

Hot Pressed Alloy Steel Tee is a seamless butt weld fitting manufactured to ASTM A234 / ASME SA234, with butt-welding ends and applicable dimensional requirements based on ASME B16.9 and project specifications.

Product Overview

Hot Pressed Alloy Steel Tee is a seamless butt weld fitting manufactured to ASTM A234 / ASME SA234, with butt-welding ends and applicable dimensional requirements based on ASME B16.9 and project specifications. Hongcheng manufactures and supplies hot pressed alloy steel tees in equal and reducing configurations for power generation, refinery process piping, petrochemical plants and other demanding high-temperature applications. Custom sizes, wall thicknesses and branch configurations are available according to project requirements.

The hot pressing process forms the tee body from a single piece of seamless pipe or suitable forging stock, eliminating a welded seam at the branch junction. This provides controlled branch geometry, smooth wall-thickness transition and reliable structural integrity for high-pressure and high-temperature service. Hongcheng supplies hot pressed alloy steel tees in normalized and tempered condition, with full material traceability, inspection documentation and project-specific technical support.

Material & Heat Treatment

Hot pressed alloy steel tees are manufactured from chromium-molybdenum alloy steel grades including ASTM A234 WP5, WP11, WP22, WP91 and WP92, selected according to project operating conditions and design requirements. These grades belong to the same alloy systems used for ASTM A335 seamless pipes and ASTM A182 forgings of corresponding grades, with each product form governed by its respective ASTM / ASME material specification.

Key alloying elements vary by grade and may include: Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), Vanadium (V), Tungsten (W), Manganese (Mn), Silicon (Si), Carbon (C),Niobium (Nb).

Chromium provides oxidation and sulfidation resistance, while molybdenum enhances high-temperature strength and hydrogen attack resistance. Vanadium, tungsten and niobium further improve creep strength and microstructural stability in advanced grades.

Typical heat treatment includes:

• Normalizing: according to the applicable material specification and qualified heat-treatment procedure

• Tempering: minimum temperature according to the applicable grade specification for normalized and tempered condition

Actual heat treatment parameters are controlled according to the applicable edition of ASTM A234 / ASME SA234, qualified manufacturing procedures and purchaser requirements.

Manufacturing Process

Seamless Pipe / Forging Stock → Heating → Hot Pressing (Branch Forming) → Sizing & Calibration → Normalizing & Tempering → UT & MT Inspection → Beveling → Marking → Packing

Hongcheng applies strict manufacturing controls throughout hot pressing, heat treatment and inspection processes to ensure dimensional accuracy, material integrity and consistent performance of every hot pressed alloy steel tee, with special attention to branch wall thickness, reinforcement and seamless transition geometry.

FAQs

  • Q:

What is the difference between hot pressed tee and welded tee?

    A:

Hot pressed tees are formed without a welded seam at the branch junction and provide controlled geometry, smooth wall-thickness transitions and reliable structural integrity. They are commonly selected for demanding high-temperature and high-pressure applications where seamless construction is required by the project specification.

  • Q:

Which alloy grades are available for hot pressed tees?

    A:

Hongcheng manufactures hot pressed alloy steel tees in grades including WP5, WP11, WP22, WP91 and WP92, selected according to project operating conditions, design code and customer specifications.

  • Q:

What post-weld heat treatment is required?

    A:

PWHT may be required for alloy steel tee piping systems depending on the applicable construction code, wall thickness, welding procedure and project requirements. Welding of alloy steel tees requires qualified procedures, controlled preheating and appropriate post-weld heat treatment where specified.

  • Q:

Can custom branch sizes and geometries be supplied?

    A:

Yes. Hongcheng can manufacture custom hot pressed alloy steel tees according to customer drawings and technical specifications, including custom branch sizes, reinforcement geometry and wall thickness transitions.

  • Q:

    What standards are supported?

    A:

Products can be manufactured according to ASTM A234, ASME SA234, ASME B16.9 and ASME B16.25.
